A Ceremonial Sitting of the Court will be held this morning to honour and farewell the Late Judge, Justice Nicholas Kirriwom, at the Waigani National Court complex, following his passing this month. The late Justice Kirriwom is the third most senior Judge and passed away on the 12th of this month, whilst receiving medical treatment at the Pacific International Hospital in Port Moresby.. He was serving his third term as a Judge of the country's National and Supreme Courts, at the time of his death.
The late Judge was the Judge Administrator for the East and West Sepik Province, and also Manus Province. Late Justice Kirriwom was first appointed to the bench in 1997, for a period of 10 years, re-appointed in 2007 also for a term of 10 years again, and was re-appointed in 2017 as well, also for a period of 10 years.
