Belden Namah, the Member of Parliament for Vanimo Green, has voiced strong criticism against Prime Minister James Marape and Minister for Internal Security, Peter Tsiamalili Jnr, questioning the direction of recent government orders. Namah specifically targeted the directive to recover stolen goods, expressing bewilderment at its inclusion in the State of Emergency (SOE) measures. In a frank assessment, Namah dismissed the order as "complete nonsense" and raised concerns about the logical reasoning behind its implementation. He questioned how such a directive, now identified as Order No. 2 of the SOE Orders, found its place in the broader security framework, given the recent events and the overarching security and law and order situation in the country. Drawing a vivid analogy, Namah likened the directive to deploying Defence and Police Forces to Bougainville to recover stolen goods from the locals after a crisis, terming it the "most stupidest" order he has encountered as a veteran in the military. Namah urged the Prime Minister and the Internal Security Minister to shift their focus towards restoring law and order, emphasizing the immediate need for peace and normalcy in Port Moresby and across the nation. He criticized the allocation of time, effort, and resources to what he deemed as "immaterial things." The Member of Parliament questioned the competency of the officer who framed the SOE Orders, asserting a lack of strategic and analytical thinking in the decision-making process. Namah stressed the more pressing concerns of business houses affected by recent unrest, expressing their interest in government support for rebuilding and the potential for a stimulus package. Namah callson the Prime Minister and the Internal Security Minister to adopt a more strategic and analytical approach in their policy decisions regarding internal security matters. He concluded with a stark warning, labeling the decision as indicative of immature, inexperienced, and incompetent leadership that, in his view, is causing harm to the people and the country.
