Chief of PNG Defence Force, Major General Gilbert Toropo has appealed to individuals spreading fabricated information about him to stop after the Waigani National Court stayed his revocation. Online rumours claimed police had called in Mr. Toropo for an interview yesterday over allegations of misappropriation and money laundering of PNGDF Commercial Support Program Trust Funds. Mr. Toropo denied the claims today, describing it as fake news.
He told NBC News this is the work of individuals with ulterior motives. He says the National Executive Council had revoked his appointment, not over any wrongdoing or misconduct but on allegations he reached the retirement age of 60, which is the subject of his current court challenge. The matter will be heard on the 18th of next month. NBC News / PNGfacts Next : Lupari Wrong : Central Bank Amendments Strengthen BPNG Independence Comments are closed.
