![]() The PNG Government accounts will be closed on December 31st this year. Minister for Finance, Sir John Pundari revealed this saying this will give ample time for government service providers in the provinces to be paid for their services rendered. He was responding to a series of questions from the Governor of East Sepik province, Allan Bird in parliament this morning. The hacking of the government’s finance system has affected most of the provinces in terms of securing funding to pay the service providers.
Governor Bird during question time today raised queries on the closure of government accounts for the year and pointed out that project funds can be remitted to their provincial accounts. Finance Minister, Sir John says the accounts will be closed at the end of this month. Usually, the government accounts close on the second week of December each year.
