A senior government Minister has raised the need for good qualified people to be appointed on merit to sit on Provincial Health Authority Boards, who have genuine concern for the health and well being of the people of this country. Minister for Health, Dr Lino Tom, raised this concern during the opening of Taraka and Tent Siti Urban Clinics in Lae yesterday (05.06.2023). " Everything rises and falls on leadership good leadership brings good services to the people and bad leadership brings issues and problems," he said. The medical doctor cum politician also thanked the Australian Government and the development partners for their assistance to build both clinics, Tent City Urban Clinic and West Taraka Urban Clinic.
The Health Minister said health services should be reachable within one hour by whichever mode of transport and with the opening of the two urban clinics, it is an embodiment of that statement. Dr Lino added that there is shortage of medical staff and the government should look into funding 7,500 vacant medical positions around the country. Kalang FM/ PNGfacts Also read Comments are closed.
