The substantive hearing date for the Papua New Guinea Opposition's case has been set. According to Order 4, Rule 25 of the Court Rules, interveners have 14 days to serve their statements in response to the substantive case. The interveners in this matter are Attorney General Pila Niningi and Speaker of Parliament Job Pomat. During a brief directional hearing this morning, Supreme Court Presiding Judge Justice Derek Hartshorn shortened the response period. Justice Hartshorn decided to meet the parties halfway, ordering that the interveners have until Thursday, July 11th, to file and serve their responses. Upon being served, the Opposition Leader will have until Thursday, July 18th, to file his reply.
The case is scheduled to return to court on Friday, July 19th, for further directions. ALso read Comments are closed.
